Spousal caregivers (MALE AND FEMALE!) need a night out! When I couldn't remember the last time I had a good time, I wondered if there were others out there like me so felt I had to set up this group. My husband has MS and in a nursing home. I am 58 and need a night out so I usually go to LaBambas, 4245 Federal Highway, Ft. Lauderdale EVERY Friday night by myself between 5:30 and 6:00 and just people watch and have a couple of drinks and dinner. If there is a change in meeting place, you will be notified by Meetup.com as I will post it. This group is now a recognized branch of www.wellspouse.org. Bring ideas for a night for YOU - we can all have a night doing something for each individual, dancing, play pool, discuss a book - WHATEVER! If everyone feels let's just meet for dinner and drinks once a week somewhere - that's fine too. Let's find ourselves again - do you ever wonder where YOU went? All ages and genders welcome who give care to whatever disease or problem. I sit at the bar and have a couple drinks and eat dinner - short hair, usually reading a book! Karen

We are meeting this month in Boca as we have several members from that area and felt it was our turn to drive up there for them. Kyojin is absolutely fabulous - something for everyone - definitely not just a sushi bar - I have friends who hate sushi and when they visit from out of town, they want me to take them to Kyojin now. “I have been a caregiver to my husband and my parents for the last 6 years. My parents died and my husband was institutionalized with dementia in February 2007. I need to "come out," come alive and make friends again. Also need to take care of #1.”
